About the Course

This five (5) day programme comprises of interactive classroom sessions and workshops themed along the three (3) Trade Association and Chambers of Commerce (TAC) strategic thrusts of Collaboration, Innovation & Advocacy. The learning experience includes field trips & site visits to the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), Trade Associations (TAs), government entities and graced by trade association industry speakers in line with SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) emerging areas of industry relevance.

  • Course Aim

    1. Understand the structure and functions of Trade Associations & Chambers (TACs) and the various roles (CIA - Collaboration, Innovation & Advocacy) TACs play within the industry.
    2. Comprehend why members join TACs and increase member engagement through identifying membership value proposition.
    3. Assess members' learning needs and advise on skills upgrading based on latest industry environment and trends.
    4. Drive technology adoption through industry initiatives and education.
    5. Advocate and bridge communication between members and the government in terms of policy sharing alongside needs & interests representation.
    6. Building and cultivating capabilities in & through digitisation, digitalisation ad sustainability to prepare for the ESG wave (Environmental, Social & Governance)

  • Target Participants

    This programme is designed for:

    - New entrants / mid-career switchers of Trade Associations and Chambers of Commerce (TAC) who wishes to gain a better understanding of how government works with the industry and local landscape.

    - Existing secretariat seeking career progression.

    - Individuals considering a career in the TACs.

    - Members of the general public with an interest in the TAC sector.

  • Certification

    All participants who have completed this course with an Integrated Applied Project Plan will be awarded a Joint Certificate of Completion by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Nanyang Polytechnic.

  • Admission Requirements

    Applicants with any of the following criteria are invited to apply for the course:

    - New joiners to a TAC secretariat and/or seeking better understanding of how government works with the industry and local landscape.

    - Existing TAC secretariat seeking career progression

    - Individuals considering a career in the TACs

    - Anyone with an interest in the TAC sector

  • What You'll Study

  • Programme structure

    Days 1 & 2 of the course will be an in-classroom workshop style with interactive activities. Days 3 & 4 will be a mixture of field trips, site visits, sharing by industry leaders and government agencies, while Day 5 will consist of participants' presentations.

  • Course delivery methods and assessments

    • The course will be delivered using a combination of lectures, tutorial-based discussions, interactive workshops, field trips, site visits, sharing by industry leaders and government agencies.

    Course assessment will consist of an Integrated Applied Project presentation to be delivered on Day 5. There will be a scheduled consultation with the facilitators midway of the course.
