About the Course

The current pandemic has rewritten the playbook for Singapore’s hospitality & tourism industry. In this changed landscape, brands have had to seek out new growth opportunities, retune their business plans, unlearn old habits and adopt new ones.

 

Singapore will need to continue working to ensure that the destination remains top of mind for high-value business and leisure travellers. This is the time Hospitality & Tourism players will need to be creative in finding new revenue streams, such as pivoting to digital platforms, and called on businesses traditionally reliant on foreign visitors to reposition their business to target locals more effectively. For executives to adapt to such a fast-changing business landscape, they have to be equipped with a set of portable skills & knowledge in related business operations.

 

The SGUS Programme in Business Practice - Hospitality and Tourism Management is designed to develop and groom you for such positions within the various related sectors. It also develops you into a versatile individual who can handle the cross-cultural demands of this dynamic sector. You will be equipped with the requisite skills, relevant knowledge and specialised training to succeed in this sector, which includes Hotel, Resort, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions) businesses.

  • Target Participants

    The programme is suitable for:

    • Executive and management support staff handling hospitality and tourism operations Supervisors working in hospitality and tourism sector who wish to obtain the “breadth” in business operations so as to enhance their employability and capabilities within the organisation.

    * Please note that each eligible person can only participate in ONE (1) SGUnited SkillsProgramme.

  • Admission Requirements

    Admission Requirements

    Applicants with any of the following qualifications are invited to apply for the course:

    1. Minimum of 3 GCE ‘O’ Level credits, including English, Mathematics and at least 1 year of relevant working experience;
    2. NITEC with GPA ≥ 3.5 OR GPA ≥ 3.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience; 
    3. Higher NITEC with GPA ≥ 2.0 OR GPA ≥ 1.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience;
    4. NITEC in Services / Technology with GPA ≥ 3.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience;
    5. Higher NITEC in Services / Technology with GPA ≥ 2.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience;
    6. Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher), and at least 1 year of relevant working experience and Workplace Literary & Numeracy (WPLN) at Level ≥ 6.
    7. Others - At least 2 years relevant work experience (subject to interview/assessment).  

     

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

    Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

  • Course schedule (conducting days & time)

    Course duration is from 28 Mar 2022 to 27 Sep 2022 and classes are conducted on Mondays & Wednesdays (Full day).

    Nett Course Fee payable for Singaporeans & Permanent Residents (incl GST): $500.00

    Applicants may use SkillsFuture Credit to offset the Nett Course Fee.
